[Highlight Reel] The 25-year-old Japanese right-hander sensation Yu Darvish making his first appearance in Toronto at The Blue Jays game, fans nine and delivers at the Rogers Centre on Monday. The 6-foot-5 crossover sporting/rock star, worked from the stretch all night. He remained impressive throughout his seven innings, allowed one run on four hits, striking out nine and walking two. He threw 97 pitches, 62 for strikes. . . .

[Baseball] The Blue Jays closed out the weekend series with two wins over the Seattle Mariners..... Following a growing trend across Major League Baseball, the Blue Jays announced that they will provide peanut-controlled seating for three games, namely May 28, July 24 and Aug. 10 at the Rogers Centre this year. . . . [Hockey] Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien will stand trial on charges including operating a boat while impaired, after his lawyer and the prosecution failed to reach a plea deal. . . . In Game 1, Rondo stuck out his chest to bump referee Marc Davis while complaining about a call in the final minute of Boston’s 83-74 loss…… Los Angeles Clippers forward Caron Butler is likely out for the rest of the playoffs after breaking his left hand in Game 1 against Memphis.
